This text for engineering students in the first year of a degree or Diploma course has been thoroughly revised to convert the examples and exercises to SI units. Otherwise the subject matter is unchanged from the previous edition.
Each chapter begins with a concise but thorough statement of theory followed by worked examples which amplify the theory and numerous problems (with answers) for the student. The first chapter on general dynamics is developed very fully, as an adequate grasp of this topic is necessary to cope with the majority of topics which make up this subject.
Review of the first edition
'The whole presentation is clear and illustrated by very well-drawn diagrams. A feature to be particularly commended is the large number of worked examples given by the authors; these together with a large number of test questions (many set by various examining bodies) make this a very useful book indeed.'
